The native Douglas fir is widely used as decking wood. The planks are available in a smooth or grooved finish. Assembly is carried out with visible screws. The wood comes from Central European forests.
It is a relatively soft and roughly-grained wood with rather large knots. Resin precipitation in the form of small drops is possible. Dry cracking is medium.
Pressure impregnated (KDI) pine is a common garden timber.Pine that is classified as “low durability” when untreated becomes “moderately durable” to “durable” when impregnated. Because pine KDI has high wood moisture content after the process (>18 %) and thus mould can develop during indoor storage, the pine KDI for the PX DIY terrace shop is dried. The impregnation is colourless, but with a colour additive our KDI pine is dyed brown or green.
